Rob, the new head professional at Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club is here to help you as a member and as a visiting golfer to our historical links course. Rob's previous role was as the head assistant at Inverness Golf Club for 20 years. Rob turned professional only 3 years after taking up the game up and the work ethic that got him to a scratch handicap in such a short space of time is now passed on to the junior golfers that he teaches through his enthusiasm and love of the game. Rob teaches all levels of golfers and uses video analysis where it is effective. Rob believes that coaching done properly should be fun for both the pupil and coach.
Having the wrong grip size and shaft flex are two of the main contributors to bad golf shots in Rob's own opinion. Most golfers use grips that are too thin or worn and shafts that are too flexible. Rob, as the head professional is here to assess your equipment and give an honest opinion on it.
Custom fitting is not just there for the very good players! Rob carried out a custom fit on his fiancés 83 year old grandfather only last year and as a result he managed to get him hitting his new 7 iron further than his old 3 wood. Rob's new Skytrak launch monitor allows him to show any standard of golfer the difference between their current golf club and what they should be using.
Golf balls have changed vastly over the last 3 years, so if you currently use whatever is in your bag because its round and white then come in and try something new. Rob promises that you will hit the ball further and with more feel than the current ball you are using - certainly worth a try as it can only benefit your own game in the long run and help you reduce your handicap too! We all want to be better than we are!
